Tidewalker Traits Explained

Traits are the moral fingerprint other players read when choosing a Story-Link. They do not gate combat stats, but they summarize how generously you treated NPCs, whether you hoarded resources, and how often you escalated conflict.

The three pillars

Pro-Mankind

Earned by repairing infrastructure, sharing Scrap/Ozen, and picking cooperative dialogue. Leaves a friendlier inherited world — the best default for players who want their Story-Link to feel helpful.

Survivalist

Earned by prioritizing self-sufficiency and conserving supplies. Useful for tense runs, but future followers may find depleted caches and fewer ambient helpers.

Troublemaker

Earned by antagonizing guards, stealing in view of witnesses, and taking chaotic branches. Unlocks unique friction — great for challenge routes, harder for newcomers who follow you blind.

Practical tips

  • Traits update across the whole playthrough — think about the seed you leave behind, not just your current bar.
  • If you want co-op storytelling with a friend, bias Pro-Mankind so their inherited Elynd stays readable.
  • Pair with Story-Link mechanics to understand how Major Visions expose hidden branches.
